Last weekend, an American surgeon working for a Christian nonprofit in a remote part of the Democratic Republic of Congo began feeling ill. Subsequent tests confirmed he had contracted Ebola — specifically the Bundibugyo strain, for which there is no approved vaccine or treatment and which carries a fatality rate of between 25% and 50%. The doctor's name is Peter Stafford, and his country, it appears, does not want him back.
