New App Warns Berliners of Ticket Inspectors; BVG Not Amused

Almost anyone who moves to Berlin will at some point encounter the ticket inspectors who pass through the U-Bahn and S-Bahn trying to catch people riding without a fare. The encounter is rarely a pleasant one: the company subcontracted by the BVG to carry out these inspections has repeatedly hired people who behave in an aggressive manner, with several reported incidents of violence and even racial abuse from ticket inspectors.

Anyone who actively contributes to making it easier to travel without a valid ticket is, in the BVG's view, supporting behaviour that lacks solidarity
