Over May 1, Berliners left 2,300 bathtubs worth of trash covering the city streets, but overall the protests and parties were "largely trouble-free."

Once characterised by clashes with the police, this year's May 1 was visualised mainly by broken glass in the bike lane. The tens of thousands of revelers and rioters who took to the streets and parks on Friday left around 350 cubic metres of garbage, according to Tagesspiegel — the equivalent of 2,300 bathtubs full of trash.

"We are seeing that the litter is not only concentrated along the demonstration and festival routes," a spokesperson for the Berlin waste management service (BSR) told rbb. "Much of it consisted of glass, lightweight packaging, and some bulky waste."
