The Volksbad Is Closed Again. This Time It's Due to Racist Threats
A right-wing media campaign from Nius, Bild and the AfD led to the cancellation of a swim event for Black children, with organisers unable to guarantee their safety.
For the second time in one week, the swimming pool at the Volksbühne is in the news. This time, it's far more serious. The theatre's pool will be shut again this Friday, after a right-wing media campaign put the safety of potential attendees at risk. The AfD, the CDU and right-wing outlets including Bild, Nius and Welt have all piled in. Here's how it happened.
