Berlin and the federal government have signed a new Hauptstadtfinanzierungsvertrag – the agreement that determines how much money the federal government gives the city each year to fulfill its role as the capital. The new deal, which runs from 2028 to 2037, is worth around €5 billion in total – and the biggest increase is in security.
