In past years, the Fanmeile has attracted millions for match. This year, it's been lost to oversight, with various Senate departments all claiming they weren't responsible for planning it.

This year's FIFA Men's World Cup, or Weltmeisterschaft (WM) auf Deutsch, is set to be the biggest edition of the tournament yet: three host counties, 16 cities, 104 matches across five weeks. And in Berlin, the best part about every World Cup is watching the matches on giant outdoor screens, at Spätis and Biergartens and on sidewalks across the city.

Traditionally, thousands of football fans also gather between of the columns of the Brandenburg Gate and Pariser Platz to watch the fixtures, in what's known as the Fanmeile. But not this year — because the Berlin Senate has apparently collectively forgotten to plan one.
